The Income-tax Act, 2025 is here — what changes for you
Show copy
The 1961 Income-tax Act has been replaced by the Income-tax Act, 2025 (operationalised by the Income-tax Rules, 2026). Most of what you actually do day to day doesn't change — but section numbers, forms and references do. Tax audit, for example, now sits under Section 63 (not 44AB), reported on a single Form 26 instead of 3CA/3CB and 3CD. If your engagement letters, filings or even the notices you receive still cite the old Act, that's the first thing to tidy up. We're already moving clients across — quietly, before it becomes a deadline.

Got a GST late-fee notice? Take a breath before you pay.
Show copy
If a delayed GST annual return landed you a penalty notice — and then a second general penalty stacked on top — pause before you pay. Recent rulings have set that double charge aside: a late fee for a delayed annual return cannot be compounded with a separate general penalty. The excess demand gets struck down. Here's what we see that you might not: most business owners pay these notices in full, quietly, just to make them disappear. That instinct — pay it and move on — is costing you money that was never owed. Before you pay any tax notice, the first question isn't "how do I pay this?" It's "is this demand even correct?" Often, it isn't. That's the difference a CA who actually reads the fine print makes — not fear, just clarity. #GST #Tax #SmallBusiness #IndiaTax
